The Bulletin - A Community Update for May 26, 2016

34 Days Left – Annual Campaign

As we enter the final month of the Federation’s 2015-16 campaign, we are focused on finishing strong so that we can continue to deliver the programs and support to meet the needs of our community locally and abroad. There is a printed page on my desk with the names of all who have donated last year but have not yet donated or pledged their support this year. There are 24 names of people who gave $72 or less; a dozen names of people who gave $100-$180; and some names of those who last year gave even more.

Whether you were a participant in last year’s campaign (or in any year’s), if you have not yet made your donation, please consider doing so today.

There are three very easy ways to do so: Donate online at; call 508-997-7471; or mail to 467 Hawthorn Street, Dartmouth, MA, 02747.

From Babs to Bibi

Last week it was Barbra in this space as another round of musical chairs in the Israeli cabinet was ongoing. Some dust has settled on the moves in Jerusalem since. The hugely important position of defense minister changed hands from trusted general and security expert Moshe “Bogie” Ya’alon to controversial life-long politician Avigdor Lieberman.

The Forward’s J.J. Goldberg (a regular in this space) sets the stage for the reader who is not as familiar in what is recommended, perhaps required, reading. Tablet’s Amir Tibon goes deeper into projection and speculation. Tibon got my attention with his reporting from Argentina last year after the death of Jewish lawyer and federal prosecutor Alberto Nisman. His piece in Tablet this week is insightful.

Left to right: Netanyahu; Lieberman; Ya’alon

Shabbat Shalom,
