Babs Biography

Before she was Barbra, she was Barbara. Our Barbara, a Jewish girl from Brooklyn with an outsized voice and even bigger ambition. After a career in which she was one of 12 people ever to win the Emmy for TV, the Grammy for records, the Tony on Broadway, and the Oscar for movies, her life and legacy are chronicled by Neal Gabler in his new book Barbra Streisand. Gabler argues that Streisand was “the first star who succeeded because of her Jewishness and not in spite of it.”

Tablet Magazine does a nice job of sharing highlights from Gabler's book.

Shabbat Shalom,
