Community Service Day at Buttonwood Park

As part of the community service day at Buttonwood Park new shrubs will be planted at the Holocaust Monument.

Starting at 8:00 AM and continuing throughout the day on Saturday, April 19, Southeast Massachusetts Tree Wardens & Foresters Association is sponsoring this event in conjunction with the Friends of Buttonwood Park. Volunteers will help to clean up the park, beautify it and plant new trees. We invite everyone to come out that day to help to clean up this jewel in our city.

This effort is just in time for the annual observance of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, which will be commemorated on Sunday, April 27 with a ceremony at the monument.

 College Scholarships

Making education more affordable for our students is a priority of the Federation.  Children of active members who will be enrolled in college in 2014-15 are encouraged to apply now for a scholarship from the Jewish Federation of Greater New Bedford and/or the National Council of Jewish Women.  For more information, contact office@jewishnewbedford.org or call 508-997-7471.  Applications must be submitted no later than April 30.
