Program Change – With Apologies to All

I have learned this week that Vanessa Hidary (The Hebrew Mamita) who was scheduled to perform February 25 at our next Federation event at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center will have to withdraw for medical reasons.

We are working on a new and exciting program to substitute for this lost opportunity. Stay tuned.

Campaign 2016

Many of you have already pledged and sent in your gi't for the 2016 campaign. Thank you! As of this week we are 59% of the way toward our goal and need 94 more individual gi'ts to reach our second goal of 240 gi'ts this year. Your Federation is counting on you.

Please send in your gi't or make a pledge today. Donate online at www.jewishnewbedford.org; call 508-997-7471; or email me at amir@jewishnewbedford.org

A Jewish Winner in a Primary Election – A First

Not something anyone would have thought possible a few months ago, but Bernie Sanders has not only defeated Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primaries, he has taken a chapter from the Denver Broncos defense and made it look easy. Jewish history in the making if you read the headline from JTA. The Forward was quick to speculate about Hillary's planned fight back in Israel.

The Forward's Jane Eisner tackles the burning Bernie question: Can Bernie Sanders Bring Socialism Back to Life? A professed proponent of democratic socialism, Bernie would take down his target top 1% of wealthy individuals and li't up young Millennials in search of a free college education. Revolutionary.

That's Entertainment

In a political season that has been anything but predictable, you can count on one man to be anything but politic: Donald Trump. The Donald has banked a billionaire's worth of chutzpah over the years and is cashing it in on the campaign trail. Jewish? No. But that hasn't stopped Jews from painting him with a Jewish brush.

Rob Eshman of the Jewish Journal wrote about the difference between Don Rickles and Donald Trump a'ter the comedian's recent one-night-only, sold-out performance. And a Tablet Magazine article makes the case for Trump as the last of the great Vaudevillians.
