The Bulletin - A Community Update for January 24, 2014

Shir Ba’Emek – An Israeli Choir to Visit Our Community in the Spring

Save the date!  Join us for a rousing concert, featuring Shir Ba’Emek, the internationally acclaimed, award-winning singing ensemble from Alfula-Gilboa, Israel, on Sunday, May 18.

SNEC (Southern New England Consortium) comprises 12 Jewish Federations in Massachusetts and Connecticut.  Through a project called Partnership 2Gether, SNEC works to enhance local ties to the Afula-Gilboa region in Israel and is happy to coordinate this and other local appearances by Shir Ba’Emek.

This concert, during the weekend closest to Israel’s Independence Day, promises to be a day of celebration and family fun.

Coastline Elderly Services Agreement Is Renewed

For the past year, Coastline Elderly Services has made available a community health worker to provide direct outreach to the elderly and disabled in the Jewish community.  This arrangement was part of a pilot program established by the Federation last year.  The success of the program has led to an “evergreen” renewal of the agreement for 2014 and beyond.  In offering this service, we are fulfilling one of the most fundamental aspects of our mission as members of the community in general and the Jewish community in particular.  Our gratitude goes to the team at Coastline and Ana Giovannini, our liaison.
