The Bulletin - A Community Update for June 4, 2015
Less than 4 Weeks Left - Federation’s Annual Campaign 2014-15
The work of our Federation this year focused on solid programming, engagement and support for causes both local and abroad as reviewed and allocated by members of the community who volunteer and participate in the process.
As far as our campaign goals, we were reaching out to new people to engage them and some have also added their support to the campaign.
But to succeed we must not lose ground and for that to happen it is important that those who participated in the annual campaign last year do so this year as well. There are almost 40 such individuals and families and I ask all of you to please consider making a pledge or sending a gift today. Donate online here or mail your gift or pledge to 467 Hawthorn Street, Dartmouth, MA, 02747.
Please note that while we ask for your pledge before June 30, payment can be made through December 31. Thank you for your support!
Invitation to Federation’s Annual Meeting This Wednesday
This coming Wednesday our Federation will hold its annual meeting. The annual meeting is not unlike any other board meeting, but it is one that is open to the community.
If you are a member (have pledged to make or have already made a donation) please join us on Wednesday, June 10, at 7:30 PM in the Tifereth Israel Library.
Obama Speaks to Israeli Television
It is not every day that an American president gives a long interview on Israeli TV.
This week one did. It was part three of a “raise Jewish support for the Iran deal” campaign launched last week in an interview with The Atlantic’s Jeffery Goldberg, followed by the speech at Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, D.C.
Rob Eshman, in his LA Jewish Journal column, says we are ingrates and suggests we simply say thank you, Mr. President. Former Israeli general and intelligence expert Yossi Kuperwasser doesn’t agree and talks to Goldberg about his view, which even the Obama-friendly Goldberg admits has merit (46 percent of it at least). Goldberg brings a full 100 percent to his readers in The Atlantic in another column worth reading. “No, Mr. President, you don’t fully understand our fears” is another good column by David Horowitz in the Times of Israel making a similar case.
The looming June 30 Iran negotiation deadline is near, but the conversation surrounding a nuclear Iran is unlikely to go away.
