Last Sunday, the 35th annual Yom HaShoah observance coordinated by the Holocaust Committee featured guest speaker and Holocaust survivor John Saunders.

The event, starting at the Holocaust Monument and continuing on to Tifereth Israel, was both well attended and well received.

Thank you to co-chairs Cindy Yoken and Maria Reed and their dedicated committee members for coordinating this meaningful event for us each year.

Committee member and BCC Holocaust Center director Ron Weisberger wrote after the event, gStudying and learning about history brings us back to understanding the value of the past and the lessons we can learn from it.

Clearly Shoah history does that.h

Game of (Jewish) Thrones

There is very little that hasnft been said about HBO's Game of Thrones. Stories, awards, tours to film sites, dynasty stories and theories.

As the series returns for its 6th season (seems like 20), The Forward's Seth Rogovoy challenges the notion that all has been said about Thrones with a Jewish history version.

Bossing BDS

It is not yet clear if the Boss plans to include Israel on his summer tour.

This, however, did not stop guitar hero Steve Van Zandt, of the E Street Band, from blasting BDSers on his personal Twitter feed, calling Israel boycotters gpolitically ignorant obnoxious idiots.h

Musicians and artists sure have their way with words.

Interesting Twitter exchange followed and some of them are in this link.

Calendar: Save the Date

  Annual Blood Drive

The Federation is hosting an American Red Cross community blood drive at Tifereth Israel Synagogue on Tuesday, May 24, 1:00 – 6:00 PM.

Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS (733-2767) or visit www.redcrossblood.org  for an appointment.

Note: The St. Luke's Hospital blood bank closed last year.

The American Red Cross now provides the hospital's blood supply.  As a result, blood collected at the blood drive is no longer credited to Federation members as it was in years past.

Shabbat Shalom,

Amir
