The Bulletin

Conventional Weeks?

This week it's the Democratic National Convention consuming news coverage, last week it was the Republican National Convention. Whether you have tuned in or tuned out, no one can claim the events and rhetoric have been same old, same old. Certainly The Forward's J.J. Goldberg would not make that claim as he coherently weaves the current election, the coming holiday and the Jewish future into one story.

A hot button topic notably absent from this week's convention? Israel. With Hillary actively wooing Bernie's supporters, who are more than vocal in their rallying cry for the Palestinians, the support for our longtime ally is more subtle. (Check out Bill's pin.)

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the "Jewish mother" of Congress, might wish this week away. Last week's dump by WikiLeaks of emails believed to have been hacked by Russians led to her resignation as chairwoman of the DNC. Read here to learn more about Wasserman Schultz's story and particularly her affinity for all things Jewish. Thinking we haven't heard the last of this strong and ambitious woman.

Jewish Brazilian Olympics?

Watch her video on preparing moqueca de peixe, Brazilian fish stew, and find inspiration for your own Olympics-themed dinner.
